Innovative technology for Paralympic athletes

Bionic spacesuit. Thanks to the bionic spacesuit, paralyzed people learn to walk again, and sometimes even overcome marathon distances. So, skier Jane Somerby, champion of the Vancouver Olympics, learned to walk again, and runner Claire Lomas was able to overcome the distance of the London marathon.

 

Aerodynamic tube. The wind tunnel also helps Paralympians improve their performance by optimizing the athlete's body position during the race. British para-cyclists and award-winning wheelchair users David Weir and Shelley Woods, involved in a five-year British Aerospace-UK Sport project, spend several hours in the wind tunnel to determine the most streamlined driving position. Wheelchair agility has been measured using advanced tracking technology developed by the McLaren Formula 1 team.
